25 Age-Embracing Tips for Menopausal Skin
Aging Quiz
How will you age?
An avalanche of age hit my face at full speed, without warning, when I started menopause.
It was on a lazy Sunday morning after a glorious facial that I spent some serious time in front of my 5x-magnifying mirror. To my horror, the mud mask I had just rinsed off had not washed away the sagging jowls and crepe-like skin around my eyes and neck. I was actually shocked that perimenopause had accelerated the effects of aging so quickly and dramatically on my skin. Despite new menopausal weight gain that had plumped up my facial skin, the actual signs of skin aging definitely had begun.
Having already researched options for my other miserable menopause symptoms, I now had to find anti-aging secrets. I am an advocate for beauty tips that do not include plastic surgery, so I knew that natural results could take longer than being under the knife.
We can’t stop the aging process – even those of you running to the plastic surgeon cannot escape. I went on a beauty quest that would embrace my age, not disguise it. If you begin good beauty habits today, you can actually slow down the effects of aging.
Wouldn’t it be nice to wave a magic wand and turn our aging skin into youthful radiance? You cannot stop aging. Sorry ladies, it bummed me out too. We can, however, manage aging. And embrace the experience by arming ourselves with the magic of good beauty habits.
There are two types of aging, internal and external. Our genes cause internal aging. The sun, gravity, smoking, facial expressions and sleeping positions cause external aging.
Internal aging begins in our 20’s, but signs do not appear for decades. Dry skin, fine wrinkles, thin skin, and loss of underlying fat are examples of internal aging.
External aging adds to our naturally occurring internal aging. Although we cannot stop internal aging, thankfully we can at least slow down external aging. The sun, gravity, facial expressions, sleeping positions, and smoking are all external factors that accelerate aging. We can’t escape gravity – although I have a friend who tried by purchasing gravity boots and hanging upside-down for 20 minutes a day. No age defying results, only a few headaches and a good cocktail-party story.
The 25 tips below do not include dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or chemical peel – procedures that produce a new top layer of skin, removing brown spots and fine wrinkles. Many women enjoy the benefits of these procedures, but they all carry some risk. Photo facial is an option for removing brown spots.

We can slow the aging process with good beauty habits. Beauty is more than skin deep – beauty shines from your spirit. A bright spirit is the power of beauty. And radiant healthy skin can invigorate your spirit to soar. top | next |
